sonic opinions 1 (my favorite sonic games)
Today I just wanted to talk about my (maybe) top 5 sonic games I have played. Honestly I haven't played all the sonic games, so much for being sonicfan94th, but it is my goal to once I have the time
My Top 5
- Shadow The Hedgehog
- Sonic Heroes
- Sonic Generations
- Sonic Unleashed
- Sonic 3 and Knuckles
Also to note, I have replayed all these games in the past 2-3 years and without any mods or fixes. Lets talk about what I like about these games individually now.
Shadow The Hedgehog
I believe that this game was my first sonic game I played when I got my PS2 as a kid so maybe theres a bit of bias there but Shadow isn't my favorite character. I didn't play the adventure games as a kid (I didn't have a dreamcast or gamecube and didn't know the wii could play gamecube games back then) so this is my introduction to Shadow and his character.
From the start I think the intro to this game: I like the song, I like the animation, I like how the song and the animation mesh and you like instally get what you're getting into.
The soundtrack in this game is actually good, like honestly I like all of it, not just the vocal tracks, everything
I find most of the stages of the game pretty fun, there are a few annoying ones but I never was like this ruined my fun, sometimes it is nice to just aimlessly run around and be like where is this thing.
In terms of story, I like the branching paths, I wish more sonic games did that, like oh what if this happened instead of this, the endings can be goofy sometimes like shadow being like I shouldnt have been born but they aren't cannon so its cool that they even did that
I like how the cast interact with shadow, could they have done more? maybe... but this is the shadow the hedgehog game, I like that they're even there and actually help you from time to time and you can interact with them and it isn't a solo adventure or just them in cutscenes.
Guns. Let's talk about guns. I am okay with the guns, I liked the alien guns, I like varienty of guns, I like the goofy guns, I like that you can just grab a street sign and use it as a sword. Does it make sense for shadow to use guns? Maybe... maybe its like he doesn't want to put in the effort to actually use his actual powers. Do people complain about him using a motorcycle? Nope because its cool so who cares I like that they did it and they should have let him use a gun in like shadow generations just as a stage gimmick or something like why not.
Also I like the idea that shadow uses guns and he actually kills people, lets kill people, let sonic kill people too
Speaking of aliens, I don't mind them. I don't care that shadow has alien dna. In the true end I don't really like the scene where everyone is frozen besides shadow because he had the dna but its whatever. I like black dooms eye just some star fish thing and he's like the devil on shadows shoulder (insert the eminem song with freddy going I'm not in the mirror I'm inside you let me guide you)
In terms of this voices I like this game's cast, maybe I'm biased because I grew up with them and these games but like to me these guys are the characters (not a fan of current vas for shadow, sonic, amy, honestly everyone)
Hmm... this post has gotten pretty long, If I have anything else to add to why this is my favorite sonic game I'll add it below but I'm probably going to put my opinions on the rest of my top 5 in the next article, it probably won't be as long for those four compared to this one, my arm hurts anyways so can't type much longer....
